Please help me Run the London Marathon!

Help me run the London Marathon!

I am running to raise money for The Neo Natal Unit at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford.

This is because my Daughter, Evelyn, (who now is 16 months old) was born 11 weeks early and spent the first 6 weeks of her life at the Neo-natal unit being cared for by the hard working staff there.

Just to give you a quick example of how much things cost, the incubator Evelyn spent her first 4 weeks in cost £100,000 to buy and equip!

So any money you can donate to help me get round the marathon course and to help other babies who, like my Daughter like to be early, that would be great GREAT.

To donate on line please vist my page @ http://www.justgiving.com/richard-sambridge

Thanks to everyone who’s makes a donation and gives me that extra bit of motiviation i’ll need when i hit the WALL.

Planning that next run….

I know in this day an age of GPS watches/phones/mp3 players etc that can track you run and tell you numerous stats about your run…

I find you can’t beat the old O/S map and this little web page to plan you next run with..

gmap-pedometer.com

I sit down with my map, decide where i want to run, normally from home to the gym before work, check out the map, and then use the gmap peometer to see how far the run is.

You can even (a bit more technical i know) download this to one of the above said gadgets.

Hope you find it as useful as i do.

Ok, so, Marathon training is hard at the best of times, but 15 cms of snow on the day I’m supposed to be doing my long run of the week??

Anyway made the most of it and did a few miles walking in the snow, really good strength training! and even better views!

Running in the cold!

Went out for a 6 mile training session yesterday, all was going well until i started to head home, with about 3 miles to go, the ICY wind coming head on, at which point i realised i could do with some ear protection…….

By the time i got home i had ear ache in both ears…….

time to by a running hat, or i could just borrow my wife’s ear muffs!!!

But i look silly enough running, let alone running with a couple of fuffly panda’s on my ears!

Its all a learning curve!
