Is Reflexology another word for “massage”?

Reflexology is NOT just a Foot Massage!

Though the word massage correctly implies that touch is involved, it is so so much more than that. Foot Reflexology is a scientific art based on the premise that there are zones and reflex areas on the feet that correspond to all body parts. It is administered by using the application of thumb and finger pressure techniques to specific points on the feet. Each specific point corresponds with an internal organ, gland and/or system.

A good certified, experienced reflexologist will not just repeat the same sequence on your feet they will discuss what has happened physically and emotionally since your last treatment and tailor make each treatment to the your needs.  There are many different areas of reflexology now and a good reflexologist will continue their CPD and acquire extra skills.

Special techniques and training can apply for Infertility, Conception, Maternity and Post Natal, Hot Stones, Lymphatic Drainage, Mindfulness, Anxiety, Depression …..the list goes on!

Reflexologists use a foot map similar to this:

Reflexology is not just used on the feet!  Its also be applied to the hands (if someone has sore feet for instance), the face (a growing area of study) and the ears!
